Feathers and Wings: A Birthday Poem

“Our birthdays are feathers in the broad wing of time.”Jean Paul Richter

Feathers to enable flight
Wings to lift and carry
High and far above the earth
Wheeling in a joyous arc
Returning home to solid footing
Memory of wind and cloud
Earth below
Sky above

"By words the mind is winged." -Aristophanes

Happy birthday to journeys!

I love that Aristophanes quote too. I bet he'd never have imagined how our words could fly around the world and connect us up with other people though :-)

If those words could be set free only to return back to you and tell you of their experiences... Who has embraced them, laughed at them even the tears of both joy and sorrow they have seen. That would truely be a journey I would like to hear of.

Happy Birthday Journeys and many more to come!

Cheers!

Joanna,

Thanks for the greeting from Scotland.

Charise,

What a lovely thought - "I shot an arrow into the air"

That would make a lovely premise for a book, perhaps a collection of short stories.

Mammarem & Nancy,

Thanks for dropping by to help me celebrate!

Happy Journey's to you!!! And all future flights! On airplane, on dance floor; miner of memories, (such treasures!); learning new tricks, relearning some goodies; fetching the gems of minds past, too; learning as you teach; and making it all into a honey of a blog. Yup, Ladybird as a bee, the queen of the hive and a worker, too, the collector of the nectar, the maker of the honey. Thanks for setting the honeypot out on the table for all the world to share!
